Here’s the scoop! We just revealed that our 5th baby (due in November) is a BOY with this cute ice cream gender reveal party theme. Use this idea for your next special announcement!

Why I Like to Know the Gender of My Babies During Pregnancy
I’m one of those mamas who prefers to find out the gender of my baby during pregnancy. Some might say this is due to my “planner” type personality but I honestly think it has more to do with the fact that I am terribly impatient when it comes to happy surprises!
To me, pregnancy is like waiting for Christmas Day. For 9 long months the anticipation builds and you just know something really wonderful and amazing (and life changing) is going to happen at the end of that journey. Finding out the gender of the baby only adds fuel to the fire of excitement in my opinion.
I’ve also found that knowing the gender of my baby helps me connect with him/her in the womb and not build an unrealistic narrative around who I think they will be.
This is a safe choice for me as I don’t seem to have that “mother’s intuition” about whether or not my unborn baby is a girl or boy. In fact, I have been wrong every single time! Experience has humbled me a lot over the years and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

Make It a Family Memory
I’ve never been into planning and hosting a large party for the gender reveals of our 5 babies– we’ve always just kept it low-key (like sending out a simple text message to friends and family), but this time I wanted to make it just a little more special by getting our older kids involved and making this event a family memory!
Instead of leaving them with a babysitter, this time my husband and I decided to bring them along with us to the ultrasound appointment and then to celebrate afterwards with ice cream!

Baskin-Robbins was our choice of ice cream shop, which made the whole event really stress-free for me (no-prepping). It was truly a special treat for our family since we don’t eat dessert out much!

We ordered the cotton candy flavored ice cream for the kids as it has pink and blue colors swirled together for the teaser photo, and the “Beach Day” flavor for us adults because of the blue (as in we’re having a boy) color. All of us agreed the latter was our favorite flavor out of the two!

As for the pics, we simply took turns snapping them with our 7 year old daughter. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and portrait mode is my friend! It also helped that it was a very bright and sunny day outside and our particular Baskin-Robbins has large windows that flooded the space with natural light.
I use Mobile Lightroom for editing all of my photos! I usually start out with these presets from Studio McGee and tweak from there as needed.

How to Make This Ice Cream Gender Reveal Your Own
- Go to your favorite local ice cream shop
- Make it a party by inviting family and friends!
- Use this theme as a pregnancy announcement instead of gender reveal
- Hire a pro photographer for keepsake prints
- Purchase ingredients and create your own ice cream cones at home

One thing for sure is that this gender reveal idea is certainly yummy!
Until next time,
